Futurecasting is a creative, strategic practice that explores social, cultural, economic, political, and ecological forces to imagine possible—and preferable—futures. Rather than predicting what will happen, it reveals what could happen and what should happen to inform long-term direction.
By understanding the forces shaping change, organizations can anticipate disruption and act proactively. Preferable futures align technological progress with human needs while advancing sustainability at a planetary scale.

The Futureproof: Postcards from the Future series uses frameworks like Joseph Voros’s Futures Cone and backcasting to guide exploration. By working backward from a preferred future, backcasting identifies the steps needed to realize that vision. The series encourages reflection on our shared future and inspires active participation in shaping it.
/ VISUAL AND NARRATIVE APPROACH
The series uses AI-driven visuals and narratives that evolve organically, turning each “postcard from the future” into a thought-provoking reflection. Designed to inspire action, it encourages audiences to consider the steps needed to shape our collective preferred future.
Futureproof: Endoskeletal Workwear
These work jeans by Sustain™ help me get through long days at work. I feel like I am 30 again. The endoskeletal support structure sewn into the selvage jean material bears most of the weight I lift daily. The system makes working on my feet far more bearable.
Retro/Future Electrics
I was blown away last year when I discovered that a YM-RX10 body kit—the new design that references the iconic RX7 from the 1980s—was finally available in electric form. What once felt like a dream reserved for concept art and fan forums is now a reality, thanks to Yutani Mobility. The 21st Century Land Grants
After overcoming the economic and political fallout of the 2020 Global Pandemic, the United States government and several enlightened billionaires came together to fund the 21st Century Land Grant program. The goal was to improve land quality in the Western states, alleviate homelessness, raise living standards for those in agriculture, and foster a new and widespread American organic farm movement.
Futureproof: Embedded Football Cameras
This season, broadcasters introduced a new perspective on football. Embedded football cameras (EFCs) now provide never-before-seen perspectives on the game. The latest equipment boasts digitally stabilized 8K imagery and WiFi-12 standards for seamless capture and streaming. An innovative new lining material accommodates the latest components and front-seam-mounted camera while maintaining the professional league’s standard weight and balance.
Futureproof: Assistive Dexterity Devices
Before my recent trip home, I noticed my parents communicated more frequently with me. I thought it was just excitement about my upcoming visit that led to the increased messages. But it turns out they bought each other assistive dexterity devices from Fluid for their 60th anniversary a couple of months ago. So far, they have made a remarkable difference in their day-to-day lives.
Futureproof: Angel's Lace Clears Space Debris
Since the dawn of the space age, humans have polluted the space surrounding Earth. Decades ago, international space agencies recognized the importance of clearing space debris from Earth’s orbit. Today, Weyland Aerospace Group’s space debris capture mesh, or “Angel’s Lace,” is slowly clearing the planet of space debris. Thankfully, progress is being made in concert with other collection systems, clearing the way for future human exploration.
Futureproof: Bastion Facial Filter Glasses
These Bastion glasses are excellent. I bought them a couple of months ago because my eyes were getting tired, and the city’s poor air quality was starting to impact my health. They filter for UV, shift tint according to lighting conditions, and protect against the possibility of incidental overlapping LIDAR from all of the self-driving vehicles that I pass on my walking commute. They also provide filtered air close to my nose, which has helped my breathing considerably.
Futureproof: The Lunar Grid
As we continue to extend our areas of exploration on the lunar surface, we have come to rely on grid pods as an extended safety envelope when away from one of our main facilities. Grid pods, placed at one-mile intervals, ensure that teams are never far away from essential life support systems, supplies, and a place to repair equipment or recuperate and recharge.
Futureproof: Autonomous Water Rescue Craft
We finally received the first of five autonomous water rescue craft last month. Since then, three people have been saved from rip tides. These craft use an array of sensors to locate swimmers in distress. Once identified, the craft approach and the two vertical motors up front dip the hinged netted rescue area below swimmers.
Futureproof: Nanomobility Repairbots
I purchased a new computer last year with Nanobot protection. Yesterday, I heard some faint ticking inside my machine. I turned on the internal monitor, and sure enough, the Nanobots were busy checking connections and cleaning up.
