SAP/Grainger SaaS Project
Evolving a Touchstone for the Digital Age.

Collaborating with SAP and Grainger to transform interactions with Grainger’s vast digital product catalog.

Grainger’s vast parts catalog has long been recognized for its breadth and depth. This project transformed that strength into a powerful digital experience, helping the company evolve from a print-based legacy to a modern, user-centric online platform. The goal was to create intuitive tools that made it easier for customers to search, navigate, and discover products within an inventory of thousands of SKUs.

Central to the redesign was developing more intelligent search and filtering mechanisms. Visual and categorical browsing options offered multiple entry points for users with varying levels of product knowledge, while clever, nested search tiers allowed customers to refine results dynamically without losing track of where they started. The system could proactively suggest items, streamline repeat purchasing, and surface curated collections tailored to specific needs by analyzing behavioral patterns and purchase history.

These collections became essential for customers and sales staff, functioning as flexible organizational tools. Users could group products by project, site, department, or team, enabling quicker reordering, easier collaboration, and contextualized management of complex inventories.

Integrating corporate and individual sales data provided a richer view of customer activity for Grainger's sales force. This empowered representatives to anticipate needs, schedule replenishment orders, and offer more thoughtful recommendations—ultimately improving service and deepening customer relationships.

By bridging Grainger’s physical legacy with digital innovation, the project delivered a scalable, adaptive platform that simplified complex workflows and set a new standard for industrial e-commerce.
