Medtronic StealthStation
A Breakthrough Surgical Positioning System.

Intuitive Navigation That Builds Confidence for Both Surgeons and Patients

The Medtronic StealthStation uses MRI and CT imaging to generate real-time 3D anatomical maps, guiding surgeons with precision via electromagnetic tracking. This minimizes disruption to delicate tissue and improves surgical outcomes.

Over three months, in-depth research conducted across U.S. hospitals revealed complex team dynamics, communication patterns, and role-specific tasks within the operating room (OR). These insights informed the development of a hybrid interface tailored to each medical role, combining a familiar input device with a responsive touchscreen. The system streamlines interaction by dividing responsibilities, reducing cognitive load, and enabling surgeons to activate personalized profiles for faster setup and better team coordination.

A redesigned home screen provides quick access to profiles, while a step-by-step navigation bar and interactive setup guide offer support for onboarding in less familiar facilities. The interface prioritizes anatomical visuals, with contextual tool palettes that adapt to the surgeon’s workflow, minimizing distractions during critical moments.
