Designbivouac is the personal site of Danny Stillion.
Danny, a Partner and Executive Design Director at IDEO, was drawn to the field of interaction design through his early interests in communication design, time-based media, and how we interact with the products and services we encounter in our daily lives. He has a background rooted in fine art and visual design as well as product design, having received his BFA from Furman University and his Master of Product Design Degree from The College of Design at North Carolina State University. His interaction design work has richly overlapped with IDEO's design for mobility since joining IDEO in 1996.
Prior to joining IDEO, Danny was an Assistant Professor teaching interaction design and digital media courses at the School of Art at East Carolina University. While teaching, he remained active as an interaction design consultant creating interfaces for interactive titles and medical devices capable of evaluating human physical performance capacity. Today he continues to mentor and learn from his colleagues in the context of projects that span various industries, including telecommunications, consumer electronics, medicine, and vehicle telematics.
Danny has spoken internationally about design thinking and interaction design. He has been awarded numerous patents and his work has been featured in The Museum of Modern Art (New York), I.D. Magazine, BusinessWeek, Wired, Bloomberg, ACM Interactions, and the IDSA Industrial Design Excellence Awards.
